Today did not go quite as planned. Miss B woke up this morning with a nasty cough and said her throat hurt. She’s been fighting this for a couple of days now, so I decided to keep her home - which usually ends with us both in a crabby mood. Her because she doesn’t get to do anything fun (my motto is that if she is sick enough to stay home, then she is sick enough to lay low and rest). Me because I usually have to throw any and all plans out the window AND we usually end up staying cooped up in the house all day. With that said, she was a trooper and let me get a few things done. We also made a quick run to Costco to pick up a few things – specifically a layout I had printed for the project I’m about to tell you about.
Earlier this month, when I revealed my August release layouts for Owl Tree Studios, I mentioned that I had a third layout to share but that I couldn’t share it until a later date because it was part of a blog post for the OTS member forums. Well, that post went up today (and can be seen HERE). My template give-away is pretty basic, but versatile and full of potential. It is perfect for the beginner digi-scrapper, yet leaves a lot of creative room for the more experienced scrapper. A little something for everyone, I say.
Just a few short weeks ago, I might have told you that I considered myself a beginner scrapper. I questioned my confidence and ability to figure out how to put it all together (I do this in traditional scrapbooking too). To prove that point, here is my initial layout I made using the template.
As you can see, I left it pretty clean and simple. It needed something but I wasn’t sure what. I take that back - I did have a “vision” of adding flowers to it after I got it printed and thus making it more of a hybrid layout. And that is what I set about to do today.
What do you think? A big transformation, in my opinion. And what is “funny” is that it really didn’t take much to give it that little extra boost. In hindsight, I wish I had trusted my instinct and followed through with making it a hybrid weeks ago. So take a lesson from me - “have confidence, trust your instinct, and follow through”.
