Reflection & Perspective

A non-crafty post this afternoon. A week or so ago, I mentioned that I “lost” my crafty mojo. I still haven’t really found it. I take that back. It isn’t that I haven’t had lots of ideas swirling in my head. I just haven’t really had the gumption to sit down and doing anything with them. See, I’ve got a situation that is keeping me distracted. A situation that I am not going to really talk about because 1) it isn’t quite yet resolved and 2) I want to focus on the positive reflection and perspective that is resulting from it. So, bear with me as I ramble through today’s post.

I had lunch today with a colleague/friend/someone who could listen objectively. It was a very enjoyable lunch (the food wasn’t bad either). A lunch where I walked away with a sense of confirmation about who I am and how I approach my professional life. There is a lot to be said about how you treat the people you meet along the way. The relationships you foster. The respect you give – which in turn garners respect you receive back. You just never know when you may need a helping hand. And it sure is nice (and comforting) to know that you have an arsenal of people to reach out to for support. That has never been clearer than of late. It makes me proud of who I have been and become. And I cannot express enough, the gratitude I feel right now. I truly hope these people know and can see that.

So that talks about people from the past. There is also a lot to be said about the people you meet in the present. People that come along at just the right time. People that give you something without even realizing they are giving an impactful gift. I’ve had more than a handful of special ladies enter my life of late. Ladies who have provided focus, inspiration, and hope. To these ladies, I also feel a whole lot of gratitude. Most of you probably don’t even know about the impact you’ve had in my life. But a big heartfelt thank you to you as well.

This “situation” is getting tiresome and draining. I just want it to be over – whatever the resolution ends up being. I have hope that good will come out of it. After all, don’t they say that everything happens for a reason? Maybe this was just a swift kick in the pants to get me to move forward onto bigger and better things. Whatever it is, if nothing else, I have a renewed perspective and A LOT of appreciation for a support network that is far bigger and wider than I thought.
