Happy New Year!

Okay – so maybe it quite isn’t 2012, but nothing wrong with sending well wishes for the new year a little early.  We aren’t very exciting when it comes to celebrating.  As a matter of fact, we’ve been known to be asleep by 10:00pm – then wake up right at midnight to say “Happy New Year” – and then fall right back to sleep.  I’m sure tonight will not be much different since we stayed up late last night.

I mentioned the other day that I’ve got plans for some things I want to accomplish in 2012.  One is Project Life.  Now I know you may be thinking I’m a glutton for punishment since I have not been successful in completing Project 365 the past two years.  I mean, why set myself up?  But I do like the concept and I am determined to find a way to make it work.

And this year, I am soliciting the help of Becky Higgins and her “Project Life” kit.  It took me a few good weeks to bite the bullet on this one because I just wasn’t sure if I liked the idea of just “putting pictures in slots”.  That really isn’t my scrapbooking style.  And I was afraid that it wouldn’t feel personal enough.  But after mulling it over, and over, and over – I figured what did I have to lose.  Clearly the methods I tried to use in the past didn’t quite work.  Maybe simplicity is just what I need.  So off to amazon.com I went to order up my kit (I chose the Turquoise edition) and with Amazon Prime, it was delivered to my doorstep in 2 short days.

Now I didn’t just stop there.  There are other “tools” that I feel necessary to help keep me on track.

The first is my Canon Selphy photo printer.  I actually bought this printer quite a while ago to help Miss B with some school projects.  But it is going to be key in being able to print pictures on the fly.  Much easier than having to upload to Target or Costco and then running out to pick them up.

Next is “Oh Life!”.  Oh my gosh!  Have you heard of this genius site?  Katrina Kennedy from “Capture Your 365” turned me on to this beauty.  It is a super simple way to capture daily journaling.  All you do is sign up.  And then every night around 8:00, you will receive an email asking “How did your day go?”.  You then just have to hit reply and send back your journaling.  Completely brilliant!  I’ve been subscribed for a couple of weeks now and haven’t missed a day yet.

Lastly, in addition to the physical Project Life kit, I also purchased the digital version over at Jessica Sprague.  I like the idea of being able to create coordinating layouts to slot in with my day-to-day stuff.  Plus, I’m thinking I can go back and catch up 2011 using this format.

So with all of that said – tomorrow is the first day of “Project Life”.  But I got a jump start tonight and completed my front, title page.

I didn’t fancy it up too much outside of using CTMH cork letters for my “2012” and adding our pictures.  I think it will be really fun to take similar pictures throughout the year and see how we’ve changed at the end of the year.

And there you have it – the first of my 2012 projects.  I’m pretty jazzed and looking forward to this being the year that I get it completely done.  Have a great night and “Cheers” to a fabulous 2012.
