Anyways, the holidays are essentially over and things turned out better than I had hoped. I’m now looking towards 2012 and crafting my list of things that I want to accomplish. But before I start to layout some of my plans for 2012, I thought I would take a look back at what I had hoped for in 2011.
Hmm… looking at the list is a little discouraging because most of the things on the list got scrapped and/or never came to fruition. I probably should have printed my layout out and hung it by my computer so that I could be reminded each day of the things that I wanted to work on. I’ll have to remember that little tidbit for 2012. But all was not lost.
Project 365 – although this fell my wayside, I did make progress over 2010. In 2010, I completed 4 months. This year, I completed 8 months. And there is still a sliver of hope that I can go back with a different point of view and pull something together for the last 4 months of the year.
Move More, Eat Less – I could easily chalk this up as a doomed “resolution”, but I do have to give myself some credit for progress. Back in April, I joined Jenny Craig in hopes of losing 15-20 pounds before our June trip to Hawaii. I lost 13.5lbs. Things went awry when Curt landed in the hospital in July and I didn’t get back on the wagon until September. Since then, I’ve been loosely on-program and pretty much staying status quo (after I re-lost the 8lbs I gained back during the summer. This past weekend, I finally surpassed the 15lb mark and things are looking positive for this coming weekend. So I should be proud of the fact that I will be starting 2012 close to 20lbs lighter than a year ago.
The rest of the list just didn’t really formally happen. There were moments of “greatness” throughout the year, but nothing consistent and not worthy, in my opinion, of even being discussed. I will say, however, that if I look at my “mission statement”, I said that I wanted us to have more quality family time. And I do think we accomplished that. Even if it took a major life event to get us there.
With 2011 out of the way – what does 2012 look like? 2012 is going to have a strong focus on “taking back ME”. I’ve spent the greater part of the past 8 years giving up or shelving things that were important to me. And it was landing me in the “not-so-happy” zone. It is time to turn to things around. So stay tuned - I will be resurrecting my blog to help me share my journey. I’ve got some things already in the hopper that I am excited about and will kick off the first part of the year with a bang.
