Friday Favorites

Happy Friday Everyone! I think this is the first Friday in a really long time where I’m not sitting here saying, “finally”. Amazing what the prospect of starting a new job can do to one’s attitude. Not to say that I am not feeling some anxiety over starting a new job – there is that “fear” of the unknown. But I guess what I am learning is that I didn’t realize how much energy my old position was draining out of me. So with a little over a week before I officially start my new role, I feel like a huge weight or dark cloud has been lifted and we are embarking on new ventures. I’m really looking forward to seeing where the next year takes us.

Last week, I didn’t get a chance to post my Friday Favorites, so I’ll be sure to capture the links of what I would of posted.

Corinna (Stamping with a Java Junkie) – Corinna has two different cards that I really liked. THIS one, which I love the way she masked in the mountain and the clouds, as well as the overall color scheme. Turquoise and orange keep catching my eye of late. And then there is THIS super cute snowman card. I can’t quite pinpoint what it is about this card, but just that I really like it. And I love Corinna’s bow tying skills. I may have to hit her up for lessons some day.

Cheryl (Even More Scrapping) – I love THIS sketch and the accompanying layout that Cheryl posted. The sketch allows you to have a main focal photo, and then the three photos down the side let you “tell a story”. I’m going to have to file this one away to use both in my physical and digital scrapbooking.

Tresa (Fabulously Artsy) – check out THIS halloween card that Tresa made. Such an ingenious way of using the “Around the Block” stamp set. I have this very stamp set, but never inked it up because I just couldn’t think of something cute to do with it.

Vicki (Wizard’s Hangout) – I just want to thank Vicki for sharing THESE gorgeous pictures with her readers. Although it seems early for snow (and what do I know about snow – it mostly rains here), it sure makes for some beautiful and peaceful scenery.

Kristina Werner (kwernerdesigns) – Kristina has been a busy bee the past couple of weeks posting a number of beautiful creations. So rather than post individual links, I’ll just leave the link to her blog and you can scroll through. Click HERE.

Dawn (Raspberry Suite) – I love the little brown and pink cards that Dawn posted HERE. Of course, I’m a sucker for brown and pink, brown and turquoise – you get the picture. And the cards looks relatively easy to put together and would be a great gift for someone.

And a couple non-crafty related posts of note.

Offbeat Mama – Some of you may have already seen THIS post, since it went viral and I’ve come across it in multiple feeds. Now, I have to admit that I may be a mom that would have raised an eyebrow on this costume and very well may have tried to steer my own son (if I had one) away from said costume. But by no means, would I have ever judged another mom, much less her son, for his costume choice. This little boy rocked it with this costume and Moms A, B, and C should be ashamed of themselves. Our kids will have to enough to worry about in their lifetimes. Let our kids have some fun.

And lastly, I like to share a cookie recipe that I made last night – and am getting rave reviews from my coworkers today. It is a recipe called Cranberry HootyCreeks from allrecipe.com. I modified the recipe a little – substituted regular chocolate chips for the white chocolate chips and I double the recipe. One thing to note, however – if you do double the recipe, you need to remember to double the butter, eggs and vanilla called out in the instructions.

Okay – I think I’m all caught up on my favorites. Hope you all had a great week and don’t forget that Daylight Savings kicks in this weekend. Woo Hoo – and extra hour of sleep this weekend. You gotta like that.
