Another Trip to the Zoo

It figures that no sooner that I finish scrapping last year's zoo pictures, that we go again. Miss B and I were supposed to have a girls weekend. We had big plans of having a slumber party that included going out to dinner at Red Robin, coming home to watch the new Barbie mermaid movie, eating popcorn and making cookies. But that all got put on hold when she woke up Friday morning with a sore throat and ultimately the cold that I had battled earlier in the week. The poor girl. It was so weird, too, watching her cycle through the EXACT symptoms that I had. (I don't think that has ever really happened in our house.) So, I kept her home from school on Friday and we just hunkered down and let the cold run its course.

Come Saturday, however, Miss B was tired of being cooped up in the house. Plus we were supposed to have a really nice, warm, sunny day. So I decided to surprise her with a trip to the zoo - on the condition that she take a nap in the car on the way. I love how she can so easily just close her eyes and fall asleep in the car. It was probably 2:00pm by the time we got there (traffic was horrible). But it ended up being the perfect timing for seeing animals. Almost all of them were out of their cages for viewing. Miss B and I had a great time walking through the whole park and I took a boatload of new pictures (of which I will share a couple of my favorites).

First up are the tigers - the one is giving the other a bath.

I don't think I've ever been this close to an elephant. She came up right by where we were standing (no zoom lens on this one).

And then there was this giraffe with the most beautiful, long eyelashes. And check out her black tongue reaching out to grab the branch to eat.

That's all for now. Hope you have a great Monday.
